Hi Fabian

I would like to extract a certain font from a word document, which I
read and edit in openoffice 2. I would like to put the font into my
user config directory on a linux machine... Is this somehow possible?

Yes - depending on what you mean.

Linux users can have their own fonts which won't be accessible to other users of the system. Just copy the font into the .fonts folder of your home directory. If the folder isn't there, create it. (The dot in front of the word fonts means that it is a hidden directory, so you need to make sure you can see hidden files and folders to do this.)
