The 'General Error' message is unhelpful, and very distressing until
one gets used to it. What did you do differently in order to get the
'Access denied' message? It would be nicer to always get that message
when the problem is that a file is already open, perhaps with an extra
hint as to what the problem might be.

Hello Rizwan,
Thanks for using OpenOffice.org and for your remark.

I've found a problem in Open Office Writer. During creating a PDF
file and if its still opened (overwriting existing one, actually) an
error message is returned and operation is failed. There should be an
information message that to help users so that, either they close the
instance first or Open Office should be capable of doing it.
The error messages I see (depending on steps I took to start the PDF) are:
Error saving ...pdf
Acces to ...pdf was denied.
and:
General Error
General input/output Error.
Since there can be more reasons why acces to a file is denied by the OS
(operating system) (user rights for instance) I doubt wheter the message can
be made more clear.
Kindest regards,
Cor
