Sounds like valentin is talking about the ubuntu version, while this
feature has been neat, it's actuallyu been broken for quite a while,
until feisty fawn - where it also featured a nice new modern ubuntu
lookie icon set.

Now that it works properly, I think that ubuntu should fold it back
upstream - and openoffice should get some neater icons for it's
vanilla distro...

Are you using the "official" edition from OOo, or a distro modified version?

Doesn't right clicking on status bar zoom percentage and selecting from
the the pop-up menu work for you? To me, this seems to be a sensible use
of window real-estate space.
