I'm curious as to how you managed to break it apart? You don't mention, but apparently you are using Windows. I went to the download page and selected the Windows download, which began downloading the following file: OOo_2.2.1_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe Once it is completely downloaded, you could check the md5sum to verify that you have a good download. Then to install, execute the file OOo_2.2.1_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe which has for the last few years resulted in installing OOo on Windows in a few minutes. Not more than about 5 or 10 minutes, to the best of my recollection.
