Hi John

I'm an old IBM LotusSuite user with LOTS of Lotus WordPro, 1-2-3 and
Approach files.
I'me very disappointed to see that OpenOffice 2.3.0 does not read Lotus
WordPro documents.

That's the lesson the world is learning: storing documents in a closed proprietry file format is a dead end that means that you won't be able to read your documents in the future. Hopefully the use of the new standard OpenDocument format will solve this problem in the future.

My Linux version of OpenOffice.org definitely lists Lotus WordPro as a file format it can open. I can't check the Windows version of OpenOffice.org at the moment. That option isn't there?

Assuming it's not available, have you tried StarOffice. StarOffice is basically the same as OpenOffice, but has some additions including file filters. Perhaps it can read Lotus Wordpro.

You can download StarOffice for free from Google. At www.google.com click on More then Pack (at the bottom of the screen). You will see the option to download StarOffice.

I hope this helps.

Adrian
