Hi Robert, if the translation software wanted to replicate the text structure for the translated text it must use the API we currently have and so can start right away. In fact I have already seen two different extensions for translating text in OOo.
If the translation software wanted to translate "just the text" without preserving the test structure it could use our new APIs for simplified text access we will add together with the proof reading API.
