This is my first time on this newsgroup but I have been using OO for some 4 to 5 years now. At the office I have a small seven machine network, reports are written and saved on a XP Pro file server (workstations have XP Home) opening and saving of oo documents, particularly on auto save, is ridiculously slow, so bad, that I have had to turn auto save off as the save can be some 20 to 40 seconds.

To add a bit more, this was not always like this, I upgrade regularly and am not sure if this changed at one of the upgrades.

A report is typed by one person, passed onto another for finalisation, in the past, if the saving was slow, I have copied the entire document and pasted it onto another letterhead template and the saving would improve considerably, but even this appears to have stopped working recently.

Two members of our office use M$ word as well and do not experience the same problems with a doc file, so have to believe this is an OO problem, possibly something that has creeped into the document format, as we are always using older reports as templates.

Has anyone got any ideas as to why I am having this problem?.
