"Why block?", or "why unsubscribe?" ???
Block because I dislike on principle black-holing mail. Very last 
resort only, IMO.
unsub because a bounced message makes the OOo list manager think 
there's a mail problem (true enough, I suppose)

I should have added that the said gentleman had no idea of what had 
happened. Had all the flavour of his being the victim, somehow, of a 
malicious subscription.
