What is the possibility for adding an Autobak feature to the OpenOffice
platform? The feature would simply create automatic back-ups of files
in a designated folder with a generic naming scheme. This would prove
helpful for individuals that get caught up in their work and forget the
golden rule "Always Save", and have the unfortunate pleasure of their
computer turning off (Automatic updates, loss of power).
There is already a Backup folder defined under the Preferences of
OpenOffice.org and you can activate the auto-save feature. This might
become annoying but secure since you will be prompted to save your new
document even when you are editing it.
I know there is a restore feature with Open Office which has worked for
me in the past, however my father recently found out restoring does not
always work.
Yes saving is always the best aproach please activate your auto-save
feature under the Preferences Options.
I hope this would be a good addition to an already wonderful office
suite.
