Currently, you can press F1 to open the Help Viewer, then enter
something like "Microsoft" on the Index tab page, and you find a lot of
help pages. Is this sufficient? Should we use another presentation, as
WordPerfect did it with that special command in their Help menu?

Great! Anything that can be done to ease migration will have big benefits.
A special section in the help is a great idea, but many (actually I'd
guess 'most') people will never look in the help, or at least not pick
the magic search term. So, I would say a prominent menu item would be
almost a necessity.
I wonder if the help item could open some kind of page that would be a
"migration resource index"? Some kind of TOC with links to the online
help, web resources, or whatever. Would it make sense to ship a copy of
the migration guide, or at least link to it?
Would it not also make some sense to actually ship some kind of
"welcome" or orientation document that would open after the first-use
wizard? Maybe a printable "reference card" or similar. That could be a
lot nicer than a blank screen.
The most common question from new migratory users is something like "In
Office, I used (some feature) heavily, but I can't find it in OOo.
What's up?" If we had something to answer that for the top dozen or so
requests, I think it would go a long way toward making people feel more
comfortable.
