Flashnote is a brilliant program - there is nothing like it. It can be used to collect portions of text that are not wanted yet but might be needed later in your document - so useful in a very long document. It would be perfect if a Flashnote-type program could be incorporated into Open Office. But please don't make the mistake of adding extra features that cause it to become complex. Its very simplicity is what makes it so useful. It would be lovely if this program could be started by an icon in one of the Open Office toolbars, or even start with Open Office.
