I believe that there are legal issues in doing this. See: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=20370 What fonts are you using that force you to use MSO? Arial & Times New Roman are available in msttcorefonts are available for most any linux system. Further, I think you will find font embedding issues even in MSO if the fonts you are using if MS have no license to embed the font. I've not tried it in some time, but I seem to recall that I could not embed various Adobe PS fonts in MSO documents.
