He he he... I like you, I really do, I feel exactly the same in most cases,
like "why integrating an email/calendar application when there are already a
few good ones out there". I personally use Evolution myself, but the most
common thing I do is to just attach my files in Gmail when I want to send
someone a file.

BUT... I also think that we (OpenOffice.org users, developers, "helpers"
etc.) are kind of "good guys" and that we all want as many users as
possible, so even when it comes to questions like this one about including
stuff that is not already there, we need to find at least SOME kind of
solution. Maybe a guide that starts automatically the first time
OpenOffice.org is started after just being installed that let us select
whether or not we want this and that. "This and that" cold in this case be a
button or menu option for launching an email client. The guide could even
include a list of software where the user could select one to automatically
have downloaded, installed and "linked to" by the office suite. At least
this would be easier than creating a brand new "Outlook equivalent". Maybe
the "Outlook equivalent" also could be an online thing, like Google calendar
or whatever...

Well, just thoughts, ready to be criticised...
