I would like to see a desktop publisher application that would be able to read and write Microsoft Publisher files. I love open office, but need to be able to load and modify our church's brochure that is in .pub format. I can't afford Microsoft office, so I have to have a friend do it for now. But love your office suite, keep up the good work. Plus, I like the idea of taking some money away from Bill Gates, that man has enough money! I have looked into using Linux, but I would have to buy a windows emulator, since most of my programs use windows exclusively. Ron H

Making the decision to use something other than Microsoft isn't that hard. It requires a bit of work at the beginning and then you are free to expand at no cost to you.

If you wanted to, you could restart the brochure in OpenOffice Draw or even use Scribus which is a free publishing program. The only real outlay would be the creation of the document in either program. But that is your choice.

I have made brochures in OOo with no problems. In fact, there is the added benefit that I can create a PDF of the file for downloading on the net when visitors come to our website.
