So, I can believe you that IRC is somewhat unfamiliar to most people,
and that many people don't have clients.
This is why (eg.) in #go-oo - to try to attract passing Windows
developers (eg.) :-) we use mibbit. You can get a quick feel for it if
you go to:
http://go-oo.org/developers/
and click the #go-oo IRC channel tab at the top in your browser. Way
less pain than registering for an account etc. then again, harder to be
certain that anyone is who they say they are - though nick registration
can help I guess.
Having said that - #go-oo is a developers channel, for developing
ooo-build; so ... overmuch noise not over appreciated there :-)
It should be fairly trivial to adapt that to whatever channel you want
obviously.
