Subject: [discuss] Erratic spelcheker
Why is it, that, sometimes the spellchecker works, and, sometimes it
doesn't?
It is not a case of malapropisms, but, words that are glaringly obviously,
misspelt, and "auto spell check" doen't find them, and, neither does
clicking on the Tools->Spellcheck menu option.
The latest case was in a document that I started to create using AbiWord,
which saved a .doc document in RTF format (?) (the file name extension was
.doc, and the file manager showed the file type as RTF), that I opened
with Open Office (I created the document with AbiWord, as Open Office
causes system failures, when more than about 60% system memory is being
used, so I tried to avoid that by using AbiWord, but that went wonky),
then I saved the file as an MS Word97 file, and reopened it, but, still,
the Open Office spell checker did not find any of the obvious spelling
errors.
I am using Open Office 2.0.4 (the latest stable one for Debian Linux).
