Finally managed to download and install OOo version 3.0.0, thought I'd
leave a comment or two for posterity since these are things I haven't
noticed said yet. No complaints, no bugs, etc. are mentioned - I'll use
a different venue for those and I think I know what most will be anyway.

-- Windows XP Pro SP3,
-- I really appreciate OO installs; it's handy to have them do optional
old-rev removal if I want and I do appreciate the confirmation efforts
the software apparently runs through. It takes a little extra time but
that's OK with me; I'd rather expend a little time for the extra
confidence it provides and services it includes.
-- A DESKTOP ICON!! Wonderful! And about time I should add<g>. That
icon also gives everyone a good, overall view of the program that many
miss because they just go and set shortcuts to swriter.exe, etc..
I suppose now people will want to ask about how to start say just
writer by itself, but ... those are much easier to answer than wondering
whether the poster is talking about the install files, an OOo file, or
whatever. THIS is progress.
-- The opening with the control panel with easy access to more
templates, more features, etc., is good too. Should solve a bunch of "I
wonder" posts.
-- Love the lack of "You must restart ... " most programs require even
when it's not needed. One of the things I hate most about computers
regardless of OS is having to boot them. Espceically when there is no
good reason to.
-- Even though it was sort of a PIA to get access to download it, I
didn't mind that either. It's just the collateral damage of success!

On the surface everything looks fine. I can think of a few things it'd
be nice to see added to it, but like I said, that's for another time.
Let's just keep spreading the word and making OOo the best darned suite
of software the world has ever seen.

My only negative comment is Sun's stupid registration process: This is
the 3rd time they haven't recognized my username/password for
registration. "It's deja-vu all over again", but hey, it's a pretty
small annoyance in the overall scheme of things. I'm hoping it doesn't
keep people from registering, though. Users are mighty important to the
success of OO.o and we should all strive to get properly registered.
For the record<g>. And yes, I did notify them. Again.

Cheers all,

Twayne
