Hello,

As experienced OpenOffice.org users, please help me solve the following problem:

In my company, I have a set of Excel business reports (pivot tables) that get their data from an Oracle Database (10g). The underlying SO is Windows XP SP3.

I am using the official ODBC driver that comes in Oracle 10g kit.

What I need is to be able to use a stock OpenOffice.org 3.x for viewing/refreshing those reports - replacing Excel completely.

I've made some tests, opening the Excel pivot table (.xls file) in OpenOffice.org and the report works, but 20 times more slowly - it is practically unusable.

Is there anything I could do (at a practical level)? Is it necessary to modify the Excel pivot table structure in some way ? Convert it to ODF ? Use another ODBC driver?

The final goal is to switch the workstations to Linux (Fedora/CentOS or Ubuntu), removing Windows for good.

Switching to a Web solution is, for the moment, out of question, since the managers request the ability to „play” with the columns in the pivot table.

Many thanks,
Răzvan
