Subject: [discuss] OpenOffice.org 3.0.1

Good morning! My name is Marius Popa, a user running your latest stable
version (3.0), and I want to ask you when the stable version of
OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 will be released. Thanks in advance and I am looking
forward for your reply.

Best wishes,
Marius Popa

I am wondering when Open Office 3.0 will be available for Debian 4.0 and Ubuntu 8.10.

Open Office 3.0 appears to be available only for Debian experimental (hazardous), and not for Debian Stable (etch, or, Debian 4.0). See http://packages.debian.org/experimental/openoffice.org and http://packages.debian.org/etch/openoffice.org , and http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=openoffice&searchon=names&suite=all&section=all .

Open Office 2.4 appears to be the latest version available through the package management systems for both Debian 4.0 and Ubuntu 8.10.

Whilst the Open Office web site appears to have a .tar.gz version available for Debian Linux, my experience of trying to install files from .tar.gz files, is that it ends up being quite messy, and the kind of thing that needs paid support, to get a system running again.

So, when will Open Office 3.0 be available for Debian 4.0 and Ubuntu 8.10, theorugh their respective package repositories?
