Hi,

OO.o 3.01 on XP Pro XP3, 1.5 Gig RAM, lots of drive space, malware free
to tthe best of my abilty, all updated and working well.
I know this has been asked before, but ... it's never really quite
been answered that I can find. So here's my take:

I occasionally copy web pages to Writer. The results are seldom
satisfactory, resulting in huge open spaces with no text or images,
large, empty "images" that aren't in the original that I can tell or see
in the source, and generalized horizontal misalignment, too.
I can get a good copy by pasting into Word using either IE (7) or
FireFox (3) for my source.

Here is a URL that for me demontrates the problem well and clearly:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?journalid=62D0427C8D642F8FE040AE0AB5E12F80&docid=336966

I don't care whether you have Word or not, I'm more interested in
whether your OO.o can represent the page as it looks on the screen or
not as Word does. And, if it does, which of your settings do you think
it might be that manage to display it to look close to the original web
page when using a copy/paste to get the page?
I've fiddled with the settings until I'm blue in the face but no
luck.

In Word, I get a neatly laid out 5 page document. But in Writer I
get a 6 page document with a lot of missing data where fields etc. don't
opt to the next page but just go hidden, only partially showing, in
several places too. If anyone is curious, I can stage the two pasted
documents on my web site but I think you'll be able to see it yourelf
using the example page I provided above. Offhand it looks like problems
with <div> </div> tags, but I'm not a guru with such things.

Thanks in advance if you have any info on what I have set wrong.

Twayne
