I have held a series of roles programming web design and building
databases, mostly using Microsoft Technologies.
I am inerested in the product because it provides much of the
functionality of Microsoft Office without the cost.
I want to be able to integrate the product into a typical work
environment where it will interact with other business tools, Microsoft
office tools, Email clients, Databases, Mailers, PDF Generators, etc.
I have not found many open source resources on how to programmatically
control Open Office.
There needs to be a central repository of free resource code that
programmers can share , collaborate and add to. When this happens and
it becomes easy to find solutions to typical problems, then it will be
used more often in the business community and consequently the world.

Well there is not a central repository because everyone can make their
repository. However there are big concentration of documents in the Wiki.

Another way to get it is through the forums, there is a legacy forum and a
modern forum. Both they have ifnormation on how to do what you ask. Most
of the times is through COM connectivity.
