You can use a Calc spreadsheet as your address data source, but you need to register it as a data source first. There is, confusingly, about half a dozen ways of doing this! One way is to go Tools > MailMerge Wizard > Next > Next > Select Different Address List > Add, Select you spreadsheet > OK > Cancel It will now be in the drop down list of data bases when you do File > New > Labels.
