It is not a cut and paste issue !  It is the issue of not being able to convert
microsoft word files to  openoffice format. I have used the Wizard, under file,
but it does not convert the files, just a few. Just reformatted my computer and
all my previous documents were in Word. Recently installed OpenOffice 3 and
cannot access the old documents.

Can you make any suggestions.

You still haven't stated how you are SELECTING what you wish to copy; crtl+A,
Click-drag, click-shift-click.  That would be clearer.
