When I work on multiple projects at the same time, they often use
several applications.  There is some e-mail activity, some web page
viewing, and other things.  Maybe a spread sheet to go with the
presentation or word processing document.

The way I find useful to manage multiple projects is to make use of the
system's virtual desktops and give a desktop to each project.  That way
I can have as many windows open in as many programs as needed and only
the ones related to that project are on the particular desktop.
