Subject: [discuss] Joining paragrphs in writer
I have used first StarOffice and now openoffice since the days of
SO-4-or-5.something, and find it to be the best office suite for my
purposes. My thanks go to everyone who has contributed to it :-)
Recently I installed fedora 7 on a machine, and much to my surprise I
found that the old release of applix office I had installed there now
found right system libraries and could actually run again (it didn't
work well for me with fc5 and fc6).
That discovery prompted me to take a long look at it (we had thousands
of documents in applix office, and I could now recover some of them -
graphics and all - if everything now worked).
I was reminded of one feature in applix office that I really liked - an
easy way to join paragraphs. But I cannot seem to find it in writer.
It is listed in the help info, but going to the link on the help page,
the technique doesn't seem to be there ... unless I am just totally
misreading the page.
Is there an easy way other than doing a manual search and replace,
changing all but the final paragraph ending into a space? By
comparison, it was both quicker and faster simply to highlight the
broken up text and hit a single selection to join them into one
paragraph in applix.
I thought about writing (and submitting) a macro do to this, but
decided to ask first - no sense re-inventing the wheel.
Thanks in advance,
