hiya, openoffice.org-'fan' writing... > why is it that when i save a .doc in oo, it can't even open it afterwards? > what kind of fucking joke is this?? >
I would strongly suggest that it is something perculiar to you or your setup. I've created many documents, save as .doc then happily opened them after. I've even opened .doc's created using M$ word ... Of course OOo isn't perfect (just as no software is) but this type of activity can definitely be done. > maybe you should consider taking a few dollars for oo so you can pay some > real programmers to do it right! > I think the programmers (who work for Sun) would take offense at not being called 'real'. Don't confuse the fact that it is open source with it being put together with sticky tape and string. Many products that run the internet are open source. or simply take OUT the possibility to save in .doc-format, what jackass has built it in anyway without proper import-filters? i'll go buy microsoft office now, at least with that i can work professional (because it's made by professionals!?), never bother me again with your kindergarten-prog! Everyone has a right to go and spend large amounts of money on M$ products. I'm sure the "professionals" at M$ would happily take your money. The professionals (although some donated their time) that built OOo don't mind either. If you want serious help, reply to this list with details on what operating system your using, version of OpenOffice and exactly what you did that 'didn't work'. /paul -- Pablo Picasso<http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/p/pablo_picasso.html> - "Computers are useless.
