In an ideal world that would be a great solution for ODF and OO.o, BUT:

 * You are pushing s#!t uphill to get everyone to adopt ODF first over the 
native document format of the incumbent.

 * There is a circuitous method to save using the plugin if SP2 is installed.

 * Generally people have shortly after using MSO07 found customers etc. who 
cannot read DOCX files and request DOC files instead.
