Hi.

As per suggested first email:

Who am I;

[image: A few words on your background] A few words on your background;
I am an ex-teacher (all school subjects to all school levels)
I'm also an ex-techie (programmer and professional business trainer of
various languages but so out of date now as to be completely useless at
coding!!!)
I'm also an ex-Deccie (DEC) and ex-EDS, where I was first a Software
Development Manager and then a Senior Business Analyst (i.e. advanced
problem solver especially for any sort of process)
I'm also a Botanist (specialising in Carnivorous Plants)
And I'm also an Entrepreneur - with interests in farming and tourism

[image: Your interest in OpenOffice.org] Your interest in OpenOffice.org;

I've been interested in OO for far longer than was a user. hard to be a
user when one works in large companies that prescribe MS Word!!! But now
that I'm free (self-employed) I choose OO for various reasons. first cost
(anyone who doesn't say this is presumably lying!!!). Then because I
believe that core solutions should be free if people are willing to donate
time to make it so.

My own need is simply that I still create documents that benefit from
formality of presentation so some sort of solutions hat's better than text
is a requirement.

Well that's why I'm here.

I would love to say that I'm satisfied with OO but, to be 100% honest, I'm
not only less than satisfied, i'm frustrated by OO. Two aspects cause this:

1. I'm a PC (or similar) user who remembers using the first IBM PC, the
first AppleMac, early Word Processors, etc, and so not a naive user and I
have to say that I find OO to be unintuitive. I haven't read the archives
but no matte what they say, if OO aint intuitive for me, nobody else's words
will change that fact! And somehow I can't believe that others don't feel
the same. I get the feeling (having managed software development people for
years) that the OO solution is written by techies (doh) for techies, i.e.
the majority create what's obvious to them, but it aint obvious to me!!!

2. It's enormous, i.e. OO is too big!!!

So I'd like to see changes and I suppose best if I deal with those in
separate emails.

Feel fee to attack my comments - I'm bullet proof! :-)

Cheers
