The situation is the same as if you had a physical switch with three ports, populated with: your physical machine's eth0, your virtual machine's eth0, and whatever is plugged into your physical machine's eth0. So if you'd give your virtual machine an internal IP address in that situation, you'd give it one with Open vSwitch. OVS doesn't have an internal DHCP server.
