The problem in the testsuite.log that you attached is that the PKI
certificates used for testing in 1.0.1 have expired. You can safely
ignore those test failures.
To build Debian packages without running the tests, use:
DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nocheck dpkg-buildpackage
