Hi all:
Cougher and Zawacki started observing and surveying maintenance
professionals in the late 70s (Couger, J. D. and Zawacki,
R. A. ``what motivates DP professionals'', Datamation, sept. 1978,
pp. 116--123.  Couger later (early 80s) wrote a book "Motivation
of the maintenance programmer", Prentice-Hall, 1984. Couger
was a professor at UCCS in Colorado Springs in the business
School. There is now a professorship named after him.  See web site

material he may have published.
