Nope... But a couple more factors affecting the decision of individual
programmers might be things like:
(1) Do the switch cases fall through? Makes them clumsier to use.
(2) Can switch statements switch on arbitrary data. Makes them applicable
in more cases. (Pun intended unfortunately. :-j)
Eg in some languages (Dylan in this case) one can write:
select ( x by string= )
"foo" => do-this();
"bar" => do-that();
"quux" => do-the-other();
end select;
