Ruven and Thomas' comments are inline with work described in the organisational learning literature. For example, in 'The Reflective Practitioner' Donald Schon describes how 'very able' workers (he called them reflective practitioners) solved tricky problems. Whenever they were stuck on a problem they would recall a similar problem that they had successfully solved. The previous problem would then be used to re-frame the current problem before trying again. He found this strategy in a wide range of professions
