A new mark-up language, not entirely based on XML for a change, called 'Layered Markup and anNotation Language' (no, I don't know why the second 'N' of 'annotation' was picked) is described here:
http://www.lmnl.org/prose/tutorial/index.html The syntax is potentially of interest to those who are into cognitive dimensions of notations and such like, because the creators have decided to have '[', '{', '}' and ']' as the principal elements, which are expected to be embedded in text much like '<' and '>' are in XML, and that make up tags that can nest to support things like this: [graphic [src}crow.gif{]}[link}A crow{link [href}crow.xml{]] {graphic] and this: [!lmnl version="0.1"] [!ns lmnl="http://www.lmnl.org/namespace"] [lmnl:document }[lmnl:range [name}link{] }[lmnl:value }[lmnl:range [name}graphic{] }[lmnl:annotation [name}src{] }[lmnl:value }[lmnl:text [characters}crow.gif{] ]{lmnl:value ]{lmnl:annotation ][lmnl:value }[lmnl:text [characters}A crow{] ]{lmnl:value ]{lmnl:range ]{lmnl:value ][lmnl:annotation [name}href{] }[lmnl:value }[lmnl:text [characters}crow.xml{] ]{lmnl:value ]{lmnl:annotation ]{lmnl:range ]{lmnl:document] Now, for my sins, I'm used to looking at XML, perl, regular expressions and LISP, yet my first impression of this is 'yuk'. Tell me, doctor, is this reaction normal, and will I come to love this baby like the others? -- Frank Wales [[EMAIL PROTECTED]] - Automatic footer for [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] unsubscribe discuss To join the announcements list, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] subscribe announce To receive a help file, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] help This list is archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/discuss%40ppig.org/ If you have any problems or questions, please mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
