I would call them observations rather than concerns (while
academics may be concerned about being relevant to industry,
industry has not such concerns about what academics do;
well apart from spending the money that is paid in corporation
tax and not delivering students with the desired skill sets).

My point was that 'you' are not listening and there is little motivation
that might want to make 'you' want to listen.

Learning about what goes on in industry and its interests requires
a significant time investment.  The dangers of only spending a few
months and not learning the language are well illustrated by the
Margaret Mead saga.

This up huge front cost is yet another hurdle in the way of any
academic wanting to do commercially relevant research in
software engineering.
