I am interested in accessing literature that attempts to categorise programmers (especially novice programming students), the only one I have come across is :
Perkins, D. et. al. (1989). ‘Conditions of Learning in Novice Programmers’. Studying the Novice Programmer. (Soloway and Spohrer eds.) Lawrence Erlbaum Associates. (pp. 261-279).
In this paper the authors identify categories of ‘stopper’ and ‘mover’. Any help/references would be gratefully received.
