Hi all, I am not quite sure I belong to this list with
the thing I am intersted in, but maybe I can at least
get a hint about the place that's more appropriate.
The theme I would like to discuss is linguistic
approach to computer languages. I.e. not a
computer-science-like approach to natural languages,
their analysis, automatised translation etc. (quite a
common field of research), but a linguistic approach
to programming languages like C++ or Lisp, analysing
the languages from the point of view of innate ability
of human being to understand languages (chomskian
"language faculty"), investigating what aspects of
programming language are easy to learn & use (having
these traits wired in our brain) and which of them are
difficult because there's no adeqate (or maybe
efficient enough) mental mechanism to deal with them.
If anyone knows about any research going on in this
fields (people, papers or whatever), I would
appreciate if you let me know. I already tried to get
info at university computer science department, but I
am afraid I wasn't able even to explain what I am
talking about. Hope I will have more luck in
psychologically skilled community.
