Hello John and Jonathan,
some of your remarks have been taken into account :
- no more table for the general layout
- paragraph line height increased
- index line height increased
- rounded corners enhanced (zoom should be better, I hope)
- code examples blocks improved (clearer background, text size and lne
height increased)
- link to an old release archive directory for Downloads.
Thanks for your pieces of advice, and feel free to add more remarks!
Still to fix :
- tutorial page not centered under Safari
Best regards,
Thierry
Wohoo! That's a big change! Congrats!

Yes.
Reuse/add more graphics; everyone loves eye candy.
Well, more diagrams would be a lot more useful, IMHO, than more random
fluff. :-)

Cool.

(Tables for layout are naughty mmkay)
I don't care about that (it's a personal issue, AFAIAC) but the top
nav bar is left justified when everthing else is center justified and
so it looks funny.
The slashed grey backround image is also quite distracting. Why not
just make it plain white or white with a very light grey slash
pattern?
In the navigation lists, definitely need to add some line-height (to
e.g., 1.3em or 1.4em) so that the lines are not all squished together.
A bit more line-height in the paragraph text would also be very
helpful.
The font used in the pre blocks for the code examples is really hard
to read against the dark background of the text box. This is on a
PowerBook running OSX 10.4.9 with Safari and Firefox. Part of the
problem is the specifying of such a small default text size -- if I
enlarge by zooming in a single step it's a lot clearer (but the
background is still way too dark -- I suggest cutting the gray in half
-- in blocks that large, the eye only needs a very subtle hint to get
all of the benefit of the distinctness from the surrounding context).
Note also that the trick being used to do the rounded corners doesn't
work as the zoom level of the page is enlarged.
There are also two FAQs listed on the site. That's confusing. If
there needs to be two then they definitely need to be distinguished so
that they are clear (REST FAQ vs. Developer FAQ, for example) and they
really need to make sure that the first entry is about the fact that
there's another FAQ and point to it.
For some reason the Tutorial page is not centered in Safari. It's
right shifted. Actually, it shares the exact same left margin as the
Documentation parent page but since it's wider, the right margin is
much farther to the right. Note that this doesn't happen under
Firefox.
Hope this helps,
John
