Hi David, You're not alone ...
But speaking ONLY for myself, there's a lot of interest but less useful knowledge. I feel like an OSGi newbie so haven't been piping up much. I've been discovering OSGi benefits and slowly converting to use it over the past year. Our largest three projects (each at 500,000+ lines of code) are just now coming out with OSGi-targeted builds ... the last ten emails in my box are related to the "OSGification" :-) Our OSGi stuff also targets Restlet 1.2M1 though, and I've seen some of the same issues you describe. Just ran into one last night where it would be really useful for the org.apache.commons bundle to import-package org.apache.commons.pool.impl. And Carl Scott on my team just ran into the "connector discovery doesn't discover" issue with Jetty. I agree OSGi's getting to be a big deal (and I've kind of bet the farm on it). I'd raise a hand in support of recruiting an OSGi czar (someone who *actually* knows how OSGi is supposed to work) to shepherd these observations/issues into correct patches, and evangelize OSGi to Restlet and Restlet to OSGi. - R On Thu, Feb 26, 2009 at 12:50 AM, David Fogel <[email protected]> wrote: > Well, it doesn't seem like there's a lot of interest here in OSGi related > issues at the moment!
