Hello Leigh, thanks for your report, the fix regarding the generation of the Resource elements is available in the svn repository and in the current snapshot of the 1.1 branch: http://www.restlet.org/downloads/1.1/.
Regarding the first point of your mail, we indeed wondered if it would be right to break the behaviour of the 1.1 branch. Users that wanted to fix bugs (regarding other part of the framework), may be exposed to introduce a change that is not desired. But we are open. I will tell Jérôme about your point of view.
