Hi all,
I try to help a friend to setup wireless network for
his company. His company have two single story
building - the dimension is 375 by 35 feet and about
30 feet a part.
For nature of his company business. The wireless
Access Point (AP) need to be in physical secure room
with is in building 1 (B1) and at one end of the
building. The wireless need to cover the entire B1 and
B2.
I am thinking to have at least 2 (or more AP) house
inside close door in B1 and run the cable (?) that can
extend the antenna to cover the two buildings.
For B1, I could run the cable from AP 1 that extend
the antenna and place it in the middle of the building
to cover the two ends of the B1.
For 2, I could use the AP 2 do the same but mount the
antenna outside B1 that point directly to B2 and hope
that will have enough signals to coverage B2.
Of course, we will walk through and use tools that can
measure the signals and have more AP/Antenna as
needed.
At this point, I just want to get any suggestion from
the groups to see if they have been in the similar
situation or have any suggestions.
Also, I am not sure what kind of cable that I can use
to extend the antenna and what the (length) limitation
if there is?
Also, any suggestion on the AP and PC-card wireless
hardware would be helpful? I normally use LinkSys and
Netgear.
Thanks in advance. In the mean time, I will do more
research and update the group as needed.
Cheers,
