A big victory! For several years, many of us have been pushing for TV and
DoD bandwidth to be allocated for unlicensed public use. Thanks in part to
the recent lobbying power of Google, it is now reality:

It's not 15Gbit and it's not WAN, but it's a healthy start at applying
modern technology to our underutilized spectrum. I expect approved
consumer devices in +1 year.

The next step is public use and "real time auction" use of dark TV channels
and DoD bandwidth... using similar geo-registered, auto-sensing tech... but
at higher power levels.

Cheers,
Roger Bly

Subject: [SCFN] 71 - 86 Ghz FCC licensed band now opened = socalfreenet or
biz possibilities ?

71 - 86ghz = 15 ghz of FCC Licensed bandwidth now available!
15 ghz should be enough bandwidth for a city-wide WISP able to compete with
any ANY internet provider {cox or roadrunner] around!
if anyone is interested in its use by socalfreenet or its business
possibilities, pls lmk. :)
i have a complete microwave lab - but not in that band!
thats milimeter wave, just above microwave,
but using the same techniques, m/l.
