I would definatly be more afraid of the one watt emission. But the 60 HZ
emission at amout 1,000,000 watts has enough leakage to radiate into a car
radio even in the USA. they also have a tendency to scatter the radiation from
a broadcast transmitter. I suspect that the cancer problems associated with
power lines is actually due to concentrations of broadcast power due to
reflections from power lines

no one knows for sure, but therre is an statistical correlation which makes it
prudent not to live near them just to be safe.
did u ever drive under a power line and gett radio interference?
the 60 HZ lines has harmonics way up into the AM band even in America
where power quality is high. Where power quality is low [Kuwait for ex.]
this same thing [interference in the car radio] can also be observed in the
FM band [90 - 100 Mhz.]
Which is worse:
exposure to the power of a high voltage power line 50' from your house???
OR
exposure to 1 watt 2.4ghz transmitter [cellphone] 1" from your brain???
What do you think?
