Hi fellow SYN/HAK-ers! Thank you all for your support – the Kickstarter campaign ends this Tuesday night and it’s going to end very close to 100K! A number of you fellow SYN/HAK-er’s helped to spread the word and pledged for the project, and I’m extremely grateful for all your support! If you’re still interested in supporting the campaign, you still have about 20 hours left - please check it out at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kenburns/tinyduino-the-tiny-arduino-compatible-platform-w-s, We’ve recently just announced a number of new expansion shields, like WiFi, Ethernet, GPS, Bluetooth, microSD, 4 channel motor control and more.
I’m also extremely excited to announce (to the SYN/HAK crowd first of all) that we’ve just leased space in the industrial side of Canal Place in downtown Akron, and have also purchase a complete Surface Mount assembly line (stencil printer, pick and place machine, and a 9 zone reflow oven), which we’ll be getting set up in the next few weeks. We’re planning on making this an open-source electronics business here in Akron, including all the design and manufacturing, and this Kickstarter campaign helped to make this a reality. After we get all set up, everyone’s welcome to come on in and check out the setup, maybe we’ll host a SYN/HAK meeting from the space one night. We’re also looking to bring some people on full-time over the next few months, first to work on assembly, and then also design help, IT help, shipping, etc. So if you know anyone who fits the bill (SMT experience preferred at first), let me know. Thanks again for all your support, I really do appreciate it! As many of you know, I've been working on a set of tiny Arduino boards for the past year, and have shown a number of prototypes at SYN/HAK meetings. Well the big day is finally here, and we've just launched a Kickstarter project to raise funding to take these boards into production. I could really use all of your help, whether it's pledging to the project and getting a few boards to play with, or spreading the word around to others who are interested. Here is the link to the project: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kenburns/tinyduino-the-tiny-arduino-compatible-platform-w-s My long term goal is to turn this into a full-time business based here in Akron (including the engineering, manufacturing and all support functions) and really would love for this Kickstarter campaign to take off and make this a reality. If you have any specific questions about how you could help, feel free to contact me! And thanks for your help!!! Ken
