I'm still very very torn about this decision. Hackerspaces are a very
real thing. Those who want to come to a hackerspace know what one is. If
not, they won't find the term scary at all after about 10 seconds of
explanation. It wasn't 'till a few hours before this meeting that this
was even an issue that needed discussing. I feel it went through way too
fast, and I feel terribad for letting it be discussed at all without
having the original writers of the proposal be there to defend their
side. Additionally, this was a very significant thing. It should've been
discussed for a few weeks before we change something that we were
founded upon. My bad.

For root's sake, its a word. I don't feel our audience includes "people
who are scared of hacking" or "people who don't have an open mind". We
shouldn't be afraid of whatever sigma "hackerspace" gives us. Instead,
we should embrace it and prove the world that hacking is a Really Cool
Thing that everybody does. There is a whole culture of collaboration
surrounding that term and it is probably an even worse idea in terms of
our public image to act scared about a word that means so much to
people.

For next week, I'm proposing that we disregard any actions that happened
on Tuesday regarding these two proposals until we get a unanimous
decision by more of the members than the handful that show up every
week, and a total board vote. Trust me, it isn't just me who thinks the
whole process and general idea was not excellent.
