Hi, all. synhak.org is moving to our new server this weekend. There shouldn't be any significant interruption in service. For sake of transparency, here's whats going down:
1. We have a new AWS account with members of the sysadmin team granted access (Ricky, Chris, Dan, and myself). We're taking advantage of Amazon's Free Tier, so our hosting is free for the next year. 2. The new server was configured earlier this week to mirror our current server's setup. Everything was tested and checked out alright. 3. The delegated nameservers for synhak.org were switched to point at the nameservers on the new AWS account. It should take approximately 48 hours for this to propagate across the planet. 4. The Wiki and Spiff databases and file uploads will be locked, migrated to the new database, and reconfigured to point to the new database. The site may be down for a window of up to 5 minutes, however the mailing lists will continue unaffected. 5. DNS will be changed to point to the new server, which will take another 24 hours to propagate. 6. The old server is shut down, wiped, and never spoken of again. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://synhak.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
