Hey, all. I'd like to update this tomorrow evening. Just in case anyone wonders why it might be unreachable for a few minutes during 7-8pm tomorrow. Spiff and MediaWiki will be affected. Mailing lists shouldn't be.
-------- Forwarded Message -------- From: Amazon Web Services, Inc. <[email protected]> Reply-to: SYNHAK sysadmins <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: [SH-Sysadmin] Amazon RDS Automatic Minor Version Upgrade for MySQL Starting January 15, 2013 Date: Thu, 27 Dec 2012 20:39:22 +0000 Dear Amazon RDS Customer, As part of the Auto Minor Version Upgrade functionality (http://aws.amazon.com/rds/faqs/#75), we will perform automatic upgrades to the latest minor versions (http://aws.amazon.com/rds/faqs/#78). MySQL 5.1.63 will be the current minor version for DB instances with MySQL 5.1 as the major version, and MySQL 5.5.27 will be the current minor version for DB instances with MySQL 5.5 as the current major version. This automatic upgrade applies to Amazon RDS MySQL DB instances that have the "Auto Minor Version Upgrade" flag set to "Yes" and that are not already using the latest minor version. This upgrade will occur within the DB instance’s specified maintenance window (http://aws.amazon.com/rds/faqs/#12) that falls within the time period specified below: - US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney) and South America (Sao Paulo): between January 15, 2013 21:00 UTC and January 22, 2013 20:59 UTC - US West (California), Asia Pacific (Singapore) and EU (Ireland): between January 16, 2013 21:00 UTC and January 23, 2013 20:59 UTC - US East (Virginia) and Asia Pacific (Tokyo): between January 17, 2013 21:00 UTC and January 24, 2013 20:59 UTC The MySQL minor version upgrade process provides the reliability, availability and performance improvements as well as bug fixes available in the latest minor versions. If your DB instances are not already set up for Auto Minor Version Upgrade, it is recommended to do so to gain these benefits. Please note that, while the upgrade is taking place, your database will have an availability impact for a few minutes during your maintenance window. Therefore, please verify your maintenance window settings to ensure that they meet your needs. Note that: - If you wish to upgrade a DB Instance to MySQL 5.1.63 or MySQL 5.5.27 prior to the automatic minor version upgrade, simply modify the DB instance by changing the DB Engine Version parameter to "5.1.63" or "5.5.27", and choosing the “Apply Immediately” option. - If you wish to opt out of the automatic upgrade for a given DB Instance, simply modify the DB instance by changing the "Auto Minor Version Upgrade" parameter to “No”, and choosing the "Apply Immediately" option. - We encourage you to test the latest minor versions against your application before the upgrade. Please refer to this FAQ (http://aws.amazon.com/rds/faqs/#77) for more details.
