Applicants for lulzbot from synhak can feel free to use any photos I've
uploaded to my blog (gsvolt.wordpress.com) or google plus
(https://plus.google.com/100087981229816844153/posts)

Trever/Xander contribute to KDE project which is free software:
  https://github.com/tdfischer

Ken is an open source hardware designer; I don't know if there's repos for
hardware designs as well

That's all of who I know who might be of help for applying together from our
hackerspace.

If you need me to take few more photos of any other member's projects, and
maintain them on our wiki, just let me know who comes to mind, and when and
where to meetup for more digital assets like photos and videos.

In fact, even without the offer from lulzbot, it kinda makes sense to me to
document the steps members have already taken during their projects (similar to
ladyada).

I have a few photos of my projects I'll be documenting on my blog shortly as
well (parking baton disassembly, disney piano desoldering, trellis in my
kitchen to name a few).

I cannot emphasize more - using your phones, point and shoots or dslrs(if you
have one) to document your independent journey through a project's completion -
you may not find utility in it, others surely will.

Btw, thanks for sharing the lulzbot 3d printer website.. through it I was able
to learn about Hugh Lyman's - Lyman Filament Extruder II:

I think you have hope for your ziploc'd pieces of (as of yet) not used filament!

I wonder what village plastics thinks of Hugh's design; and whether or not they
will consider selling pellets in addition to filament, so hackerspaces can keep
our future 3D printing expense low!

Subject: [SH-Discuss] Syn/Hak could win a 3d Printer!

I recently found out that LulzBot, an open source 3d printer company based in
Colorado, is giving away 8 of their 3d printers to hackerspaces.  Check it out
here:

https://www.lulzbot.com/?q=news/printer-giveaway

As a young and growing hackerspace, with a nice physical space and plenty of
tools and resources available to members and the public I think we have a good
chance of being selected.  All that is needed is to fill out and submit the
application.  I am willing to do this for the space but I need some of your
ideas.  These are the two basic questions we need to answer:

1. What would Syn/Hak do with a 3d printer?
2. What specific examples do we have of Syn/Hak members contributing to
Libre/Free/Open Source hardware and software projects?
(they are looking for links to git repositories, wiki pages, or photo
documentation of the contributions)

I've got a few ideas and if you have something in mind reply to this message.
The deadline is April 15th.  We should do this as well as continue to raise
money to purchase a 3d printer.

Doug
