Howdy, hakkers! I've been thinking a bit about what we would need to have a successful Speakers Bureau this time around, and I'm looking for your feedback to help make it a self-sustaining one.
For those who aren't aware of what the Speaker's Bureau is, here's a wiki refresher: "We find speakers. We give talks at schools and SYNHAK events. We're pretty much badass." -- http://synhak.org/wiki/Speakers_Bureau To accomplish those goals, here's what I plan on introducing over time: * An active wiki page of upcoming speakers used for scheduling * Integration with live.synhak.org to show the schedule * A monthly request for talks to the general public built from feedback around the community * A good archive of recordings of the talks * Live streaming of the talks * Some clear guides about how to schedule a session, run PR for a session, and subsequently run a session * Quick templates for making PR material if you want to make flyers or such * Finding a Maintainer to continue to make sure it works once we get things started * Implementing attendence fees in Spiff for people who want to do workshops that require purchasing materials If you think you can help out, please get involved and lets start talking :) If you don't see where you can, make a suggestion on how to improve! These classes are what really brought the community together our first few months of running. If you are passionate about learning and sharing your skills or knowledge, this is perfect for you. And of course, if you've got an idea for a talk, let me know. I'll take the inititive in collecting ideas. I've scheduled the next talk for Wednesday, November 20th at 8 PM, where I'll kick things of by presenting how to use OpenSCAD to produce models for 3d printing. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] https://synhak.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
