Wat a neat idea, I'm all for it. It could also be placed outside pfsense
(we have two ips not spoken for yet), as isolated from our local network as
the rest of the world is if your concerned this is actually an elaborate
scam to setup a botnet. Being inside so we would count as an ipv6 host
doesn't seem fair, and I'm confident that will be resolved at the new space
anyway.
Placing it outside of our LAN does sound more appealing, to be quite honest.
Yeah, thats precisely what I was thinking. Stick it on another modem port so
we don't need to deal with any privacy concerns.
Well, either way, I'm still gonna packet-sniff the traffic, whether we
host it on our LAN or not. I'll even publicly host the .pcap file for
anyone who wants to see what it does (assuming nothing terribly bad
shows up in the sniffed data).

I'd be OK with it as long as we packet-sniff the traffic it generates and

Given that the hardware would be coming from RIPE, I would assume that
they wouldn't, but better safe than sorry (plus it could be a cool demo of
how to do MITM packet sniffing).

Howdy, all.
I'm considering signing us up to join the RIPE Atlas project:

Basically, I sign up, RIPE ships a small probe that plugs into an
ethernet
port, and they get real-time data about the health of the internet in our
corner of the world.
